| Welcome at Sleeping Forest! | |||||||

November 18th 2009 -- We are on track! The puppies perform very well in training, and despite the warm weather, we are able to teack them what it means to pull. At the Pampa Sleddog Training camp, they did a great job alongside our more experienced dogs. We are participating in the Pampa Sleddog Race as well, check out their website: http://www.pampasleddograce.com. It is one of the biggest off-snow races in Europe! We'll do some snow training in Sweden as well, and who knows what else we can do this year (while the focus remains on training, due to the age of the puppies). Read more in detail about our day-to-day reports on our blog, as ever: http://sleepingforestmushing.wordpress.com
August 4th 2009 -- The new season is about to start in a month or two. We'll focus on the B2 class this year, including four young malamutes from Sky's litter last year. Until our new site goes live, you can still check on the puppies on our blog: http://sleepingforestmushing.wordpress.com November 4th 2008 -- The new season has started, and new puppies have arrived! Sky gave birth to 6 puppies. Follow their development on our blog: http://sleepingforestmushing.wordpress.com March 13th 2008 -- We finished fourth at the World Championship in Sweden, out of nine D2 teams, all selected out of different countries! A great result for our team, only 56 seconds total after number 3 and we left the bronze finalist of the 2007 EC behind us! Expect to see some pics appearing soon :) ... and check out more info on our Team Belgium blog: http://teambelgium.wordpress.com January 16th 2008 -- As one of the mushers selected to participate in the World Championship in Sweden, March 2008, we are still training hard - both the dogs and the musher! Follow Team Belgium's progress in training on their brand-new blog: http://teambelgium.wordpress.com December 18th 2007 -- The Pampa Sleddog Race was a huge success! One of the biggest off-snow races in Europe and when it comes to purebred teams, probably the biggest in the world... check out loads op pictures on the Pampa Sleddog Race website. We finished 7th in the scooter 2 dog class, first non-Siberian Husky team in that class. The training is going very, very well, so we have high expectations about our performance at the WC in Sweden. Team Belgium was prestented to the press just before the Pampa Sleddog Race and the team members all look very confident. So Belgium has the potential to bring home many medals, even with the announced 350 participants from 25 different countries ... November 17th 2007 -- Our distance adventure of last year was a great success. This year we'll focus on the World Championship Sprint in Asarna, Sweden. Why? Because with adding a section on the house, a change of job training for distance is not possible this season. Better do something good than half. Training is going very well. May 12th 2007 -- Okay, it was a short, wet and warm winter. Unfortunately, the European Championships Distance in Schöneck, Germany were first postponed, then canceled. We trained hard for this event, but the weather remains an unpredictable factor with a big influence ... After Sweden, we started to slowly train down again and finished all training activities very early due to the hot temperatures. Of course, we're already preparing the team and the equipment for the WSA WC 2008 in Sweden! We thank all our sponsors for the support! February 3th 2007 -- We didn't leave for Destne after all, because at the day we planned to leave, there still was no snow. Plan B was going to the Nordic Open in Sweden. Not quite a bad alternative ;) We had a great time there, and took quite some pics. We were alone in the distance D1/I class, but the experience was great. In total we did 195km in the snow, which is much, much more we ever did during past years alltogether. The Nordic Open will host the WSA WC 2008, so as a preparation, our participation can count!
January 18th 2007 -- In a few days we will leave for Destne, Czech Republic. We will participate in a four day, 222km longtrail with bivuac. Training went relatively well, despite the warm weather. Check our report in a few weeks!

and our dogs. Who these teammembers are, can be
found out
in the "people" and "dogs"
pages. We live in Belgium, south of Brussels. Sleeping Forest participates in national and international sleddogsport events. Our achievements thus far can be seen in the race results section. Some news flashes from past season may clear up things a bit too :) |

| But what is Mushing? | |||||||
| Okay, so Sleeping Forest is a mushing team, but what is mushing? We are not going to try to re-invent the wheel, a lot of sites can give a better overview of what mushing is all about. In short, "mushing" means "riding a sled pulled by sleddogs". You can play with the parameters of this definition: change "dogs" by "dog", change "sled" by "kart" or "ski's" and you see what a wide range of possibilities exist. You can mush in almost every country, just for fun or to win a competition. Discover more about mushing at www.mushingbelgium.com or visit the sites of our friends. |
